| Authors: Gordana Novakovic and Miroslav Savic Images: Gordana Novakovic Soundtrack: Miroslav Savic Plotter form, documentary videotape, 1993-S-VHS, PAL, duration: 4 min. A project in which images are transformed into sounds and sounds into images by means of computer-generated forms, titled Form. The work consists of sounds created out of images in real time utilizing a pre-recorded computer generated sound matrix and hand-printed surfaces. In order to realize this project it was necessary to devise a special structure which would carry the tape recorder audio head. The tape recorder head is attached to the drawing pin of the computer plotter while their movement is synchronous. The painted background is colored, free-style, representing a two-dimensional depiction of the mental space in which Form exists, over which the pin of the plotter is drawing a pattern and generating sounds which are simultaneously being decoded out of Form. An experimental artwork recorded on videotape and performed in public. |
